2011 Charity Garage Sale

Every year, in honor of our precious angel Trinity, we do something special for the sick kids in the hospital. This year we needed to raise money for therapy iPads for the chronically ill kids at the Children's Recovery Center.

To help raise money for the chronically ill kids at CRC, we've been collecting everyone's unwanted "JUNK" to sell in a huge garage sale...

Our garage was transformed into a small "Thrift Store". We then opened up a 3-day Garage Sale at our home. Our goal was to raise $2000 for the kiddos at the Children's Recovery Center. We were able to raise $1700!!! It was a lot of work, but was worth it!!!

Thanks to those of you who donated items for us to sell, thanks to those of you who donated time to help us out in the garage sale, thanks to those of you who donated money towards our cause, and thanks to those of you who came to shop!!! WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS HUGE EVENT WITH OUT ALL OF YOU!!!

Every year, as you know, we do the Angel Trinity Christmas. This year for the 5th Annual Angel Trinity Christmas, we need to raise $2000 for the Children's Recovery Center (CRC). The Therapy Team at CRC are in need of purchasing iPads for a handful of the chronic ill children at the hospital. Obviously they do not have the funding for these expensive items. That is where we come in.

On AUGUST 12th & 13th (the 2nd weekend in August), I will be doing a Charity Garage Sale at my house. So I need your help. It's time to spring clean your homes and get rid of furniture, clothing, and any excess items you no longer need or use, and donate those items to me, rather than taking them to the Goodwill or Salvation Army. Spred the word, and gather up items that I can sell in this Charity Garage Sale. We will be collecting your donations up until the weekend BEFORE the Garage Sale (FIRST WEEKEND OF AUGUST).

9 years ago on February 13, 2002, I gave birth to Trinity Melinda Adams...our first and only child. Here's a picture of Trinity just a few hours old...weighing 4pounds, (1.8 Kilos) in the NICU and getting ready for her first open heart surgery at LPCH-Stanford.

4th Annual Angel Trinity Christmas ~ Toy Drive

Being so busy this last school semester, I was only able to put a small toy drive together for the chronically kids at CRC. A handful of people donated toys, other's donated money, which in turn we used that money to go shopping for the CRC kids.Once all toys were collected and purchased, the wrapping began. My doggy Buddy kept me company & was my little helper.The gifts are wrapped and ready!The van is loaded...time to deliver the gifts!The Beautiful Belen Family helped us deliver the gifts...Little Jackie used to live at CRC when Trinity lived there.May wonderful parents joined us as well, to help us pass out gifts The Beautiful Children at CRC...I love all of them so very much!

As a gift from us to CRC, we gave them a framed picture of Trinity and a few framed pics from the "Angel Trinity's Snoezlen Room" dedication day.

Snoezlen Room Dedication (3rd Annual Angel Trinity Christmas)

Last year for the 3rd Annual Angel Trinity Christmas, we did a huge fundraiser to raise $6000 for The Children's Recovery Center (CRC). Once we reached our goal in March 2010, we gave CRC the money to start building a Snoezlen Room (a multisensory therapy room for the chronically ill kids).

CRC contacted me in October to inform me that they had finalized this amazing room! Saturday, November 20, 2010, CRC dedicated the Snoezlen Room to Trinity and threw a huge dedication party for us. Family and friends, along with CRC staff all joined us on this special day.

4th Annual Angel Trinity Christmas

Yes, it's that time of year again, can you believe it? This year I've been very busy being back in school full time. I didn't get a chance to get anything really big organized for our Annual Angel Trinity Christmas. We've decided to organize another toy drive for the kids in the hospital. We will be giving to the kids at the Children's Recovery Center. For those of you who haven't heard of the Children's Recovery Center, in short, it's a long term facility for chronically ill children. Trinity lived there for 14 months of her life...many kids live there for years and years. You can read more about the Children's Recovery Center if you go to their website www.pedisubacute.com
For those of you who would like to donate to this year's Angel Trinity Christmas, here's a list of toys they need there. All toys donated must be brand new and still in their packages.

Ideas for infants:
Crib mobiles, decor, floor gyms, wagons, etc.

Ideas for toddlers:
small scooters, activity tables, pop-up toys, learning toys, sensory/texture toys (ie. play-doh, sand/water tables), etc.

Ideas for older kids:
Scooters, puzzles, games, art easels, physical therapy type trampolines, walkie-talkies, etc.

Please keep in mind that most of these kids are stuck in beds and/or cribs due to their severe medical conditions. So any other toys that can pre-occupy them in their beds would be great too. (ie. Age appropriate DVD's, headphones w/cd players, books, age appropriate video games, etc). Brand new boy/girl clothing from infant to teen, would be a good gift to donate as well.

We will be collecting your donated items from now til Saturday December 18th. We will take all your donated gifts to the hospitalized kiddos that following week, just before christmas.

You can donate in several ways, purchase the toys yourself and bring them to our home, order the toys on-line and have them shipped to our home, send us gift cards to Targets, Walmarts, or Toys R Us, and we'll go purchase the toys, or you could send checks (payable to "Angel Trinity Christmas") and we'll go purchase the toys. If you plan to just donate a gift card or money, please keep in mind that we will need to go shopping, so try to send those earlier, rather than later. The holiday season gets very busy with shoppers, and local stores start running out of the needed items.

The money for CRC

Here's the latest update for the huge fundraiser we did for the Children's Recovery Center (CRC). Our goal of $6000 finally happened in March just after I finished the huge garage sale and after Macaroni Grill finished the fundraiser they were doing. On Saturday we wrote out of check for the money we have, and brought it to CRC. The rest of the money donated is coming directly from Macaroni Grill to CRC. But at least we were able to drop off the majority of the money so they can finally get started on this amazing room.Here's the room they are transforming into the multisensory "Snoezlen Room".We have also decided to donate Trinity's little walker. The kids at CRC will definately be able to benefit from using Trin's walker. This little walker was a huge key to finally helping Trinity learn to walk all by herselfHere's a picture of Trinity, Fall 2006, walking to her preschool class...As time goes on, we will continue keeping all of you posted on this amazing project. During the fall of 2009, we started the 3rd Annual Angel Trinity Christmas. We chose to fund raise $6000 for the Children's Recovery Center (CRC), to help build a snoezlen room (a multi-sensory development room) for the chronically ill kids. By the end of 2009, with donations from people during the holiday season, we raised just over $3000. So exciting, but yet, only half way to our goal.

After the new year started, I came up with other ideas to help fund raise money. I work at Macaroni Grill and spoke to the management about fundraising money through the restaurant. For an entire month, we had our guests color hearts for a $1 donation towards CRC. We posted the hearts up at the restaurant to show off the beautiful artwork from our guests. We also did a "JEANS DAY" where all Macaroni Grill employee's wore their jeans to work for a donation of $5 each. In total, Macaroni Grill raise just over $1500!!!! AMAZING!!!!!

My last fundraising idea was to do a Charity Garage Sale. Throughout January and February, I collected donated items from several people. Not everyone has the money to donate, especially in this economy, but everyone has something in there home they no longer need, want, or use...and can get rid of. Hundreds of items were donated. With the help of my wonderful mother and hubby, we did a 3-day Charity Garage Sale at our home. Here's my mom helping me sort through all the itemsIt was a lot of work to organize all the donated items, but we slowly worked through everything and got the garage set upAfter 3 days of selling most everything that was donated, along with selling my mom's homemade crescent rolls (THANK YOU MOM!!!), we cleaned out the garage and took the rest of the stuff to goodwill.It's a nice feeling to park the cars back in the garageFrom all the sales we did at the 3-Day Charity Garage sale, we made just over $2000!!!! For a grand total of....drum roll please....just over $6500 raised for the Children's Recovery Center!!!

Thank you to all of you who donated money, donated time to help, and donated items to sell. There is no possible way we could have raised the money we did for CRC without all of you helping us out! Once again, Trinity's amazing legacy lives on throughout our hearts as we continue doing what we can to "Pay it Forward" and help improve the lives of the chronically ill children at CRC. I'll post up pics as the money is given to CRC, along with the stages of the snoezlen room being built.

Charity Garage Sale

Currently we are at $3000, and our goal is to fundraise $6000. To help fundraise the money we need for the Snoezlen Room at the Children's Recovery Center, I'm collecting your unwanted goods. Fundraising Garage Sale

We have the goal to raise $6000 for the Children's Recovery Center, and currently we are at $2800...ALMOST HALFWAY THERE!!! I am now planning to do a Giant Garage Sale in March, having 100% of the money earned, donated to this fundraiser. I have already gone through my home and "Deep Cleaned" getting rid of the stuff I no longer need or use. If you want to be apart of this giant garage sale, go through your home, clean out your unwanted goods then donate it to me and whatever money I make off your stuff, I will donate to the Children's Recovery Center for the Snoezlen Room Project they are doing.

Fundraiser goal is half way there!!!

We have currently raised just over $2600!!! We are almost halfway there!!! Our goal is to raise $6000 for the snoezlen room project at the Children's Recovery Center (CRC). We have also decided to continue this fundraiser through February. It's hard to raise what we need in such a short period of time during the month of December. Everyone is so busy with Christmas being around the corner.

The restaurant I work at, Macaronni Grill, plans to do a big fundraiser for this cause in February..."Give from the heart" type of fundraiser. My mom and I have even discussed putting together a family fun Run/Walk in Gilroy to raise more money. Other ideas to raise money that you could do on an individual basis would be to get rid of stuff and do a garage sale. Make baked goods and sell them. I'm even trying to get a local Catholic School to authorize a "Dress Down" day (no uniforms) and every student who wants to dress down donates $5. These are just some ideas. A donation of $5 can go a long way, and the more people we tell, the more chances we have to raise our goal amount. Remember 100% of all donations are going to CRC for this snoezlen room.

A snoezlen room is a multi-sensory development room for chronically ill children. I have a video explaining more about a snoezlen room on this blog. Go check it out. This room is exactly what the children at CRC need.

Snoezlen Room for CRC

The fundraiser we are doing for the Children's Recovery Center is to help start a multi/sensory room called a "Snoezlen Room". This room is an advanced room using extremely creative ways to teach children, with severe/special needs, how to communicate and develop. The Children's Recovery Center (CRC) is a long term sub-acute facility for children with severe/special medical needs. It's a step down from the Intesive Care Unit at the hospital, and helps families, who are willing, to train on their childs medical care, in hopes to eventually transition the child to home care. Some children live in this facility for years up to a decade. Some children no longer have families that come visit them. Trinity lived at CRC for 16 months during 2003-2004. If CRC wasn't an option, these long term chronically ill children would have no other choice but to live in the ICU's at the hospital. Long term chronic care is normally not covered under insurance, so the majority of the funds for CRC are from medi-cal/state funding. We all know that California isn't doing too well economically, and most state funded facilities are being effected by cut backs.

This snoezlen room is obviously something that would not be covered under state funding. This is where we all step in. After you watch the video and understand what a snoezlen room is, you'll understand that this room can be pricey to get started. So far we have raised just over $1000 and have set a goal to try to get to $6000. This will be a good chunk of change for CRC to start building the snoezlen room for the children. CRC plans to dedicate the snoezlen room to our sweet Angel baby, Trinity Melinda Adams. It brings tears to my eyes knowing that my sweet Trinity will continue making such a strong impact to so many lives...keeping Trinity alive and remembered in such a special way.

3rd Annual Angel Trinity Christmas is coming

Over 2 years ago, we had to say goodbye to our precious Trinity. We miss her so much and continue doing what we can to keep her alive, loved, and remembered in our hearts. Christmas time is just around the corner, and to continue to honor our sweet angel baby, we will be doing the 3rd Annual Angel Trinity Christmas. The past 2 years we've purchased gifts or had gifts donated then gave the gifts to the sick kids in the hospital...Children's Recovery Center and Lucille Salter Packard Children's Hospital-Stanford.

This year will be different. We have started a fundraiser to raise money for a special project at the Children's Recovery Center (CRC). 100% of the funds raised will go directly to CRC to help put together a very specific multi-sensory/development room for the kids at CRC.

Local friends got involved to help us wrap the gifts that were donated for the children at the Children's Recovery Center.

December 24, 2008 ~ The Angel Trinity Christmas comes to the chronically ill children at the Children's Recovery Center.

The happiness and smiles we received as each child got their specific gift, was priceless!

1st Annual Angel Trinity Christmas ~ 2007

Over 400 gifts were donated, anything from crayon's, stuft animals, and story books to remote control cars, dolls, and DVD's. Wrapping paper, bows, and tape were donated, and a group of people came over to help us wrap all the gifts that were donated. Each gift was wrapped with a picture of Trinity saying "Given to you with Heaven's Love, From Angel Trinity".

As a family on Christmas day, we delivered all the gifts to the sick kids in hospitals...Lucille Salter Packard Children's Hospital-Stanford and the Children's Recovery Center. Bringing joy to the sick children in the hospital on Christmas day, helped ease the intense saddness we have in missing our precious baby girl on Christmas day...
